Square Mile Coffee Roasters is a multi-award winning coffee roasting company based in East London. It was founded by two people with a collective 19 years of experience in the coffee industry, spanning from barista work, machinery support and coffee training to import, cupping and roasting and has grown to be a team of 20 talented coffee professionals, with a wealth of experience and passion for what they do.

One of the founders is James Hoffman. He has been involved with the specialty coffee industry for more than 12 years,  and throughout has been motivated to make speciality coffee more accessible to consumers. Being the 2006 & 2007 UK Barista Championship, 2007 World Barista Champion, 2008 UK Cup Tasting Champion and the UK Brewers cup champion in 2011, he built a reputation for his knowledge and skill.

The World Atlas of Coffee, published in 2014, is his first book. He also is the publisher of Longberry, an in-depth journal that takes on and explores stories around the world of coffee.

The other half of two founding members is non other than Annette Moldvaer.

She roasted the winning coffee of the World Barista Championship three years in a row, and her cupping skills led her to win the World Cup Tasters Championship in 2007.

That same year Square Mile was founded, aiming to make London famous for good coffee and furthering the appreciation of specialty coffee across the UK. Since then the she, her staff and customers have won numerous awards for their product.
